You lookin’ for some real jazz with floor-appeal, boyo? Go no
further, for Jazz Heat Bongo Beat is here. A Ricky-Tick organised
bi-monhtly club night at Helsinki’s club Kuudes Linja, Jazz Heat
Bongo Beat brings together live performances by the label’s hottest
acts plus the diamondest jazz DJ action around. Given the right
opportunity, the club night will occasionally also travel into new
territories such as the Helsinki venues Kulttuuritalo (”the Culture
House”) which recently featured a Jazz Heat Bongo Beat crowd of
2000, and Korjaamo.

In addition to Ricky-Tick’s in-house names, Jazz Heat Bongo Beat
has featured the likes of Mulatu Astatke & The Heliocentrics, DJ
Nicola Conte, DJ Jazzman Gerald, Wahoo! DJs, plus many more. Get
aboard the Ricky-Tick newsletter to stay on the know of upcoming
events, for they are indeed up-a-comin’.

Ricky-Tick Records has also released a compilation of some of

Jazz Heat Bongo Beat eturns to Kuudes Linja on November 27 for a very special session with the Ricky-Tick Big Band. The event marks the only Helsinki appearance for the 15-strong troupé, whose swing statement of a debut LP was released on Ricky-Tick in May 2010. Led by Dalindèo main man, composer-guitarist Valtteri Pöyhönen, the RTBB is a party unto itself, featuring an array of dazzling soloists unified in a remarkably coherent unit. The RTBB live shows have become known for their extremely high level of hot jazz energy, and this one will surely be no exception – especially as the Kuudes Linja stage is a bit too small for the ensemble. In fact, it is likely that there will be some unusual floor-level action as well.

DJs Markus-Setä (of Soul Sides) and Matti Nives support early on and seal the deal later on. Tickets on sale now at Tiketti and “going fast” as the popular saying goes, so don’t sleep!
