They travel the spaceways. Astro Can Caravan, founded in the early 2000’s and part of the Ricky-Tick roster since their EP “The Nagual Julian” in late 2008, steadfastly refuse to be pigeonholed by anyone, anywhere, or anyhow. Astral travelling while we others walk the earth, the collective is a loose musical community of friends built around the central nexus of messrs Otto Eskelinen, Tomi Kosonen and Pharaoh Pirttikangas.

“The Nagual Julian” EP, released by Ricky-Tick in December 2008, is proof enough that the Astros mean bizniz. A solid 1-2-3 of tight, finger-snapping space jazz groove, the EP’s compositions are tough entities on the floor, but succeed in taking you way Deep at the same time. 21st century spiritual jazz with guts?
